Apple’s Journal Application Set to Debut on iPad and Mac with Major Improvements

Apple’s Journal application is set to launch on the iPad and Mac as part of iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, incorporating several new features—even for iPhone users.

## Journal app found in iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe

Journal made its first appearance in iOS 17.2 as a fresh iPhone application, but many anticipated its cross-platform release as soon as iOS 18 the following year. The wait has been longer than expected, but soon, Apple’s Journal app will extend beyond just the iPhone. Both iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe will introduce Journal as a new pre-installed application.

This app is currently available in the beta versions of these updates, so users can look forward to accessing Journal on their iPad and/or Mac this fall—most likely around mid-September.

Journal operates and appears as you would anticipate on Apple’s larger devices. There’s a collapsible sidebar that provides access to functionalities such as Insights, settings, and additional features. Otherwise, the majority of the screen space is allocated to your journal entries and the editor during writing. Keyboard shortcuts are integrated, easily reachable through the new iPadOS 26 menu bar. Plus, there’s support for Apple Pencil.

It’s exciting to see Journal making its way to the iPad and Mac, as I previously struggled to fully commit to the app without an iPadOS version. This has already started to change since I installed the iPadOS 26 beta.

## Fresh Journal enhancements in iOS 26 and beyond

In addition to reaching the iPad and Mac, Journal will also receive numerous other substantial upgrades this year across all platforms, including iPhone via iOS 26. Here’s what’s new:

– **Multiple journals**: Users can now create various journals to categorize their entries.
– **Inline images**: Images can now be inserted inline with your text, instead of being restricted to a separate media section.
– **Drawings & handwriting**: Regardless of whether you own an Apple Pencil, you can now incorporate drawings and handwritten notes into your journal entries.
– **Map view**: Journal entries can be viewed on a fresh map interface that shows where they were written.
– **Improved search**: Apple has enhanced the search functionality of Journal for better performance.
– **Recover deleted entries**: A new option allows users to recover entries that were recently deleted.

These enhancements, along with the ability to use Journal across Apple’s three major platforms, make this an especially significant year for the Journal application.

Are you looking forward to the Journal app becoming available on the iPad and Mac? Which of the new iOS 26 features are most significant to you? Share your thoughts in the comments.

“Groundbreaking Substance Surpasses Graphene in Strength by Eight Times”

Researchers at Rice University have created a novel 2D carbon substance that outperforms graphene in strength. Referred to as monolayer amorphous carbon (MAC), this substance is engineered to resist fractures and absorb increased energy prior to failure. Graphene, once deemed the most potent material, has played a crucial role in the development of new substances. Nevertheless, MAC’s distinct structure, which merges crystalline and disordered areas, enables it to endure higher pressures and impede crack growth. Its thin profile is beneficial for use in compact electronics. The introduction of MAC seeks to broaden the range of materials available, providing stronger, more slender alternatives in scenarios where brittleness poses a challenge. Fabricated in a manner akin to graphene, the production of MAC can be expanded for diverse industries, illustrating the potential of fusing various internal architectures to produce innovative materials.

Spotify Streamlines Access to Preferred Songs on Wear OS

Spotify has rolled out a new capability for Premium subscribers, allowing them to download music remotely onto their smartwatches and various other devices. This enhancement permits users to send playlists straight to any device that is signed in, such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, or smartwatches, without requiring physical interaction with the device. This capability streamlines the management of music libraries across as many as five devices, all through the Spotify app on the user’s primary phone.

In the past, downloading music to a smartwatch required navigating the device’s small screen, which could be quite inconvenient. With the newly introduced “Download to other device” feature, transferring music is now straightforward. This functionality is especially advantageous for individuals who appreciate engaging in outdoor pursuits, as it guarantees that their preferred playlists are readily available, even if their smartwatch is out of reach.

Spotify’s update further enhances the oversight of downloads across devices. Users can now identify which devices have a specific playlist saved offline and better manage their limit of five devices. This feature is presently accessible on Samsung devices with One UI 7 and Galaxy Watches operating on Wear OS 5.0, with a gradual rollout expected for additional devices.

WhatsApp for iPhone Launches Feature to Copy Sections of Messages

### WhatsApp Launches Partial Text Selection Functionality

For those who were thrilled by the update that iOS 26 will permit users to copy segments of a text message within the Messages app, but aren’t on the beta version, there’s positive news: WhatsApp has already rolled out this capability.

#### Partial Text Selection in WhatsApp

Starting from version 25.16.81, WhatsApp has allowed iPhone users to choose and copy particular parts of a message. This feature promotes more accurate communication, facilitating the sharing of pertinent information without needing to duplicate entire messages.

To activate this feature, simply long-press the message bubble, then press and hold again on the text. This will display the recognizable iOS text selection handles. Users can then drag to select the preferred text and tap “Copy” to transfer it to their clipboard.

This functionality resembles the forthcoming update to Apple’s Messages app in iOS 26, which is currently in beta. Nevertheless, WhatsApp users can utilize this feature right away.

#### Recent Updates from WhatsApp

The partial text selection functionality was initially noticed in WhatsApp beta versions earlier this month, shortly after the debut of its much-anticipated iPad application. Furthermore, WhatsApp has been preparing for additional features, such as usernames, aimed at improving user experience.

Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has also revealed intentions to introduce advertisements in the Status and Channels sections of the app. These alterations signify a larger strategy to enhance the app experience while boosting monetization efforts.

If you haven’t seen the text selection feature in your WhatsApp application, be sure to check for updates in the App Store to confirm you have the most recent version.

In summary, while iOS 26 is still ahead, WhatsApp users can presently experience the ease of partial text selection, enhancing their messaging interaction.

Google Slams iOS 26 as It Reveals Forthcoming Pixel 10 Release

I assumed Google would definitely ridicule Apple Intelligence at I/O 2025, especially after Apple’s significant blunder this year. Apple’s extensive Siri redesign is still nowhere to be seen, while Gemini has incorporated numerous fresh features since Apple revealed its ambitious AI objectives at WWDC 2024.

Google opted not to disparage Apple in any way and concentrated on its own AI announcements instead. However, it targeted Apple immediately after WWDC 2025 wrapped up last week. The tech giant disclosed the launch of Android 16 for Pixel devices alongside a variety of new features for current Android and Pixel phones.

This was not merely a coincidence. Google timed its Android announcement perfectly as the world was abuzz with the innovations in iOS 26 and the new Liquid Glass design set to debut across all of Apple’s offerings.

A week following the Android 16 unveiling, Google returned with a bolder strike. The company released a humorous advertisement that pokes fun at certain new features in iOS 26 that have been present on Pixel devices for years. The ad also hints at the soon-to-be-released Google Pixel 10 phones, which are anticipated to debut this summer.

The fresh ad adopts the same “Mac vs. PC” style that Apple popularized during its fierce competition with Windows. It’s ironic, as Google is now imitating a format that Apple made famous to mock Apple for imitating its features.

The advertisement follows a comparable narrative to some of Google’s recent anti-iPhone commercials. An iPhone (16 Pro/Max?) and a Pixel 9 Pro can be seen chatting about WWDC 2025, where Apple introduced iOS 26.

The iPhone shares with the Pixel the new features in iOS 26 and the “coincidences” highlighted by the media, emphasizing that many of these functionalities have been available on Android for years.

Master ChatGPT Using This Crucial Advice

Once you begin utilizing ChatGPT, there’s no turning back. OpenAI’s chatbot is capable of assisting you with everything from simple to more intricate inquiries. While it’s important to remain cautious about the AI potentially providing incorrect or partial responses, it serves well as the coach you wish you could meet in person but don’t have time to connect with.

Although BGR occasionally offers useful advice on mastering ChatGPT, I recently came across a more efficient method to maximize its potential, particularly if you subscribe to ChatGPT Plus or even ChatGPT Pro.

As previously highlighted, one of the most effective strategies for engaging with ChatGPT is by providing it with context. Since the early 2000s, Google has trained us to use targeted keywords for optimal outcomes, but ChatGPT functions differently. It requires all the detailed information you can share. The chatbot must comprehend its audience, the aim of your inquiry, and the rationale behind your question. This doesn’t mean every query has to be lengthy, but with ChatGPT, the more specifics you include, the better the results.

This is why the best piece of advice I can offer for using ChatGPT like a professional is to encourage it to think more deeply.

Here’s how you can prompt ChatGPT to think more critically for you:

Picture yourself preparing to relocate to a new city, searching for a new pair of shoes, or crafting your next RPG narrative for a game night. While these situations are quite distinct, the common thread is that you should request ChatGPT to present various options or strategies, then rank them to provide you with a clearer understanding of what might be most effective.

Once again, ChatGPT may still fabricate or provide inaccurate information, but at the very least, it can help you identify potential directions to explore. For instance, you might ask it to formulate a five-year plan for a specific goal you have. From that point, it should propose different strategies to achieve that objective, outline the advantages and disadvantages of each, and prioritize them according to what might be the most beneficial for you.

Even if ChatGPT doesn’t possess every solution, this method enables you to brainstorm with the AI and work through things independently.
