“Hit Romantic CW Series Sees Huge Audience Surge Following Netflix Launch”

At times, when you access your preferred streaming platform, you find yourself looking for something fresh and thrilling to view. Other moments, you simply wish to binge-watch a series that has been running for a while. Netflix offers a blend of both, which is why we frequently witness shows like Sullivan’s Crossing — which just entered the Netflix catalog this week — rapidly rising in popularity.

Sullivan’s Crossing is adapted from the novels by Robyn Carr, who also penned the books that led to the creation of the Netflix original series Virgin River. Sullivan’s Crossing debuted on Canada’s CTV in 2023 and is also broadcast on The CW in the United States. Considering the immense popularity of Virgin River — which has recently been renewed for an eighth season — it’s hardly surprising that viewers flocked to watch Sullivan’s Crossing the moment it was available on the streaming service.

What is Sullivan’s Crossing about?

This Canadian romantic drama features neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) as she finds herself entangled in work-related legal issues and returns home to Timberlake, Nova Scotia to regain her footing. Her employer was charged with billing fraud, and she’s facing a lawsuit for negligence. In the meantime, she strives to reconnect with her estranged father and build a social life. To say the least, she is “going through it” as the narrative begins.

To make things even more complicated, Maggie has left her boyfriend, Andrew (Allan Hawco), back in Boston. Their parting wasn’t amicable, and it isn’t long before he appears at her doorstep, seeking to reconcile. Now, he wishes for Maggie to return to Boston, but she isn’t quite ready to leave yet, creating a new division between them.

And then there’s California Jones, or Cal, (Chad Michael Murray) — a charming local who escorts Maggie home after she indulges a bit too much one night. If you sense a romantic tension forming between Cal and Andrew, you’re on the right track.

Who’s in the cast?

Alongside Morgan Kohan as Maggie Sullivan and Chad Michael Murray as Cal Jones, the main cast includes Scott Patterson as Maggie’s father Harry Sullivan, Tom Jackson as Harry’s close friend Frank Cranebear, and Andrea Menard as Frank’s spouse Edna.

Here’s the complete roster of recurring cast members through the first three seasons:

  • Lynda Boyd as Phoebe Lancaster
  • Allan Hawco as Andrew Mathews
  • Dakota Taylor as Rafe Vadas
  • Amalia Williamson as Lola Gunderson
  • Peter Outerbridge as Walter Lancaster
  • Lauren Hammersley as Connie Boyle
  • Reid Price as Rob Shandon
  • Lindura as Sydney Shandon
  • Zayn Maloney as Finn Shandon
  • Richard Donat as Roy Gunderson
  • Calem MacDonald as Kaleb Meyer
  • T. Thomason as Jackson Canaday
  • Hugh Thompson as Tom Canaday
  • Kate Vernon as Helen Culver
  • Steve Lund as Cooper

The ensemble will surely expand in forthcoming seasons on CTV and The CW.

Uncommon Prime Day Discount on Distinctive Shielding Minimalist Cover

These products are typically limited-run items, making their appearance on sale rather unusual!

When considering a protective phone case, you likely envision something that envelops the entire phone for optimal protection. The Arc Pulse case series suggests “you don’t need all that fuss,” yet it rarely offers a price reduction due to its minimal materials. Fortunately, Prime Day alters that with a rare 20% price drop on what are otherwise quite pricey phone cases.

Arc Pulse functions by shielding the areas of your phone that most frequently touch the ground when dropped. This includes the top and bottom edges, as well as all four corners. It also features protective lips around the front edge of the display, but the remainder of the phone remains entirely exposed for all to see.

Arc Pulse cases are frequently limited-run products. For instance, the Pixel 9 Arc Pulse case is no longer available on Amazon, even though the manufacturer sells them in limited stock on its own website. Hence, a discount on these cases is a noteworthy occasion, but it’s only valid until the conclusion of the day on Friday, July 11.

You might question why someone would prefer such a case for their pricey phone, but I suggest that it’s a worthy alternative to having no case at all. I personally enjoy using my phones without a case, but not everyone shares my perspective. This option, at the very least, safeguards the most vital parts while preserving the aesthetic and feel of a caseless phone.

The case is crafted entirely from metal, ensuring its incredible durability, and features a rubberized interior shock layer that prevents the metal from scratching or impacting your precious glass phone in the event of a drop.

Upon receiving the first Arc Pulse case for the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL earlier this year, I created a brief video demonstrating its drop test performance on carpet, wood, and concrete from two different heights. Watch that video below to see how it could protect your Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Even with this video proof, I completely grasp the apprehension about purchasing an ultra-minimalist case like this. If that’s the case, I suggest considering the Pitaka Aramid Fiber case for Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is also on sale for 20% off for the remainder of the day today.

An Aramid Fiber case is engineered to provide extra grip for these exceedingly slippery glass-and-metal sandwich phones, along with scratch protection in case of a drop. Although they generally don’t perform well for drops on concrete or similar surfaces, the all-metal and rubber-lined Arc Pulse case will likely perform far better, ironically.

Google’s Sameer Samat Foresees an Integrated Future for ChromeOS and Android

An interview with Google’s Sameer Samat covered the promising outlook for Android and its plans for the future.

What you need to know:
– TechRadar spoke with Google’s president of the Android Ecosystem, Sameer Samat, regarding the Android ecosystem.
– According to Samat, Google sees the future anchored in Android, mentioning recent developments like Material 3 Expressive and its commitment to improving cross-platform data transfers as key to that vision.
– Samat also emphasized Google’s strategy to integrate ChromeOS with Android, facilitating easier content management between laptops and smartphones.
– Google has recently introduced the Android Canary Release Channel for developers, providing the necessary tools to innovate in the realm of foldables and wearables.

Our colleagues at TechRadar engaged with Google’s president of Android Ecosystem, Sameer Samat, to explore the company’s vision for Android’s trajectory. A pressing topic for many is the main Android OS: Android 16. While Google has expedited the rollout of Android 16, entering the “Trunk Stable” phase for accelerated development cycles, Samat asserts that the software’s aim is to help users “align the aesthetics of what’s on your home screen with the overall experience of your phone.”

Android 16 represents a significant enhancement; however, Samat mentions that the objective was to develop an OS that feels “modern and enjoyable” without interfering with established user habits.

Samat expresses confidence in his efforts with Android at Google, stating, “I believe you experience the future first on Android,” yet acknowledges there is still work ahead. In particular, Samat is focused on closing the gap between iOS and Android for users wishing to transition. He remarks, “…this should be straightforward. It’s 2025.” Currently, challenges exist when changing platforms alongside inherent risks.

Samat is keen on leveraging more contemporary “industry standards to transfer data between the two, which is fundamentally what we’re advocating for and striving to achieve.”

Google is embracing significant design reforms in Android 16 (and likely future versions) in statements emphasizing the vision of seeing the “future first” in the software. Android 16 introduces Material 3 Expressive, which notably alters animations, colors, and various aspects.

Gemini takes the spotlight

Advancing Android’s prospects are intentions to amalgamate “ChromeOS and Android into one unified platform.” Samat hinted at a keen interest in understanding how users (notably those on iOS) utilize their smartphones alongside their laptops.

Discussions between TechRadar and Samat distilled into another important Android topic: Gemini. According to Samat, “…Gemini integrated in a phone significantly enhances the user experience.” The AI plays a pivotal role in Google’s roadmap for Android, and its functionality will likely continue to develop and advance. In the interview, Samat showcased Gemini’s capability to summarize a YouTube video, complete with timestamps for validation.

The publication described it as a “compelling demonstration,” partly owing to Apple’s absence of similar features with its Intelligence/Siri software.

Samat lauds Google’s AI yet again, underscoring its user-friendliness. He states, “Gemini is the top assistant on the market. Press the side key on any flagship Android device, and it will summon Gemini, directly relevant to your current context. Those two features are developed by Google.”

TechRadar and Sameer Samat carried on their conversation, exploring the concept of “excessive AI” and what empowers Android XR. You can review the rest of that conversation with TechRadar for deeper insights.

The wheels are in motion

Android 16 made a rapid debut following Android 15’s late 2024 launch. While it introduced several significant design modifications, Google also integrated numerous new functionalities for users. Among these, you can find Live Updates, providing real-time information about navigation and even food deliveries. Android 16 has also refined notifications, simplifying the display of alerts from the same app to avoid overwhelming (or cluttering) the user’s device.

Additionally, the OS included Advanced Protection software, enhancing user safeguards against insecure websites and “the most advanced attacks.”

Google has also been collaborating with other OEMs like Samsung and OnePlus to enrich their features for Android 16, aiming for a more cohesive operating system. The journey of Android continues as the company has recently rolled out the Android Canary Release Channel for developers. Google is attracting developers by promoting the availability of tools necessary to shape the future of foldables and wearables. We’ve just observed the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7, alongside discussions regarding adaptive applications for such expansive displays.

Developers can preview the in-development Android API and features to provide feedback and contribute to a better future.

Apple Watch Ultra 3: New Features Expected to Debut This Autumn

# Apple Watch Ultra 3: Features on the Horizon

The Apple Watch Ultra, celebrated for its sturdy construction and features aimed at explorers, is gearing up for substantial enhancements with the forthcoming Apple Watch Ultra 3. While the earlier model had only slight improvements, the Ultra 3 is set to unveil a variety of new functionalities that focus on health tracking and connectivity. Below are three main features anticipated in the next iteration, the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

## Detection of High Blood Pressure

One of the most eagerly awaited health capabilities is the high blood pressure detection function. As reported by Mark Gurman, this feature aims to notify users if they may be dealing with hypertension, akin to the current sleep apnea detection. Nonetheless, it will not furnish specific blood pressure measurements, such as diastolic or systolic values. This health feature has been under development for a number of years and is finally ready to debut with the Ultra 3.

## Messaging via Satellite Without an iPhone

The Apple Watch Ultra has consistently been marketed as a tool for adventurers, and the Ultra 3 will amplify this feature with the launch of satellite messaging. This function will empower users to dispatch text messages through Globalstar Inc.’s satellite network, even when they are beyond the reach of cellular signals or Wi-Fi. Although iPhone users have enjoyed this technology for a while, the Ultra 3 will be the first Apple Watch to provide independent satellite connectivity, allowing users to leave their iPhones behind while exploring the great outdoors.

## 5G Mobile Connectivity

Another noteworthy upgrade for the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is the addition of 5G mobile connectivity. Prior models were restricted to 4G LTE; however, the Ultra 3 will include 5G Redcap technology. This variant of 5G is engineered to consume less power, ensuring that the watch preserves a reliable battery life while delivering swifter connectivity. Even though it might not match the same speeds as standard 5G found on iPhones, it will enhance the user experience overall.

Cometary ‘Space Ice’ Are Significantly Different from Earth’s Water

Space is frigid, and studies have repeatedly indicated that ice exists abundantly throughout the cosmos. Nevertheless, even though it shares a common name with the ice we encounter in glaciers or our freezers here on Earth, new findings suggest that the frozen water found on frigid planets, comets, and even in the cosmic dust drifting through space is quite distinct from the ice you might place over your soda.

To begin with, although it appears to be an amorphous solid, ice is actually composed of numerous nanoscopic crystals, each measuring only a few billionths of a meter in width, if that. So, what distinguishes Earth ice from space ice? According to researchers, Earth ice consists of well-ordered lattice crystal formations. These exhibit the six-fold symmetry characteristic of snowflakes in their foundational structure.

However, it has long been understood that space ice possesses a different arrangement. Due to the near-vacuum conditions found in space, the water frozen there is believed to have lacked the requisite energy to form these orderly lattice structures. Scientists assumed they were primarily composed of randomly arranged crystals. Yet, new research is contesting this viewpoint.

Rather than being formed solely from random crystallized configurations, the researchers discovered that for the ice they created in their experiments to accurately imitate space ice, it was necessary to impart some structural organization—approximately 20% of the total framework. Even more fascinating is that when slightly heated, they observed that the crystals maintain the structure present in their initial designs.

This implies that the ice retains a portion of its historical memory, which could significantly aid in future investigations of frozen water in space. Additionally, it might fundamentally alter our comprehension of how life originated on Earth, an idea researchers have long speculated occurred as amino acids traveled within the frozen water of comets.

However, if space ice preserves some characteristics of its original formation, then the available spaces for those acids to develop and thrive would be even scarcer than previously believed. Naturally, the study is far from conclusive, and additional research will be necessary to validate these results. For the time being, though, they pose intriguing inquiries about our understanding of how the universe and space ice function.

Possible Overhaul of MacBook Pro Expected in 2026

For years, speculation has indicated that Apple is preparing a revamped MacBook Pro set to debut between 2026 and 2027. Recent reports indicate that Apple has postponed its update to late 2026, with a new article from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggesting that the introduction of this redesigned MacBook Pro might be delayed due to the impending M5 model.

Previously anticipated to launch around October or November of 2025, Gurman now believes that Apple could reveal the new laptop in early 2026. He notes: “The company was planning to unveil new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros — code-named J714 and J716 — later this year featuring M5 chips. However, Apple is now aiming for an early next-year launch, implying that the current MacBook Pro release cycle may extend a bit longer than typical.”

He refrains from stating this will definitely happen, as “the timing remains fluid.” Nevertheless, should Apple delay the M5 MacBook Pro announcement, it might suggest that the company is on the verge of launching a redesign within the same year.

Apple’s timeline indicates that anything is feasible

Looking back at the recent developments in the MacBook Pro lineup, Apple has previously launched new Macs in the same series just months apart on two occasions:

– **2020/2021:** In November 2020, Apple introduced the original M1 MacBook Pro, followed by the entirely new M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro models in October 2021.

– **2023:** Apple unveiled the MacBook Pro equipped with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in January. Later, in October, it rolled out the M3 MacBook Pro series. There were no major design alterations.

Even if Apple introduces the M5 MacBook Pro in early 2026, it does not rule out the possibility of a redesigned model being launched later that same year. After all, Apple executives have previously mentioned that new Macs and chips will be released as soon as they are ready.

Moreover, while the M4 models represented enhancements over previous iterations, the M5 options are expected to resemble the transitions from M1 to M2 or M2 to M3.

Lastly, it’s crucial to acknowledge that 2026 will mark the 20th anniversary of the first MacBook Pro release. Given that Apple celebrated the 15th anniversary in 2021, it’s reasonable to infer that they would not want to overlook the 20th anniversary celebration in 2026. Apple also celebrated the 10th anniversary in 2016 with the MacBook Pro featuring Touch Bar.

Save 30% on the Best Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 Covers

Thinborne cases are exceptional for any device.

(Image credit: Andrew Myrick / Android Central)

I’m not particularly fond of cases, and many of the options I would select were lacking MagSafe functionality. Consequently, for years, with every new phone, I would instantly apply a dbrand skin along with a MagSafe adapter. However, everything changed when I began using Thinborne cases, and this pattern will persist with the new Galaxy Z Fold 7.

What more fitting way to mark the release of the slimmest foldable phone than to match it with one of the slimmest cases? And while I would willingly pay the full price for a Thinborne case, a Prime Day pre-order offer that gives a 30% discount on the retail prices of both the Fold 7 and Flip 7 case means I don’t have to.
