Apple Sees Drop in Position on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 List
Apple has fallen in this year’s iteration of the Fortune Global 500, reflecting a similar decline in the U.S.-focused Fortune 500 list released last month. Here are the specifics.
## UnitedHealth surpasses Apple for the second occasion this year
Although Apple remains within the top 10, it was surpassed by UnitedHealth Group, which advanced from 8th to 7th this year.
Notably, this same movement occurred on the Fortune 500 U.S. list back in June, when UnitedHealth surpassed Apple for third place among American companies.
Here’s this year’s top 10 in Fortune’s Global 500 list:
1. Walmart
2. Amazon
3. State Grid
4. Saudi Aramco
5. China National Petroleum
6. Sinopec Group
7. UnitedHealth Group
8. Apple
9. CVS Health
10. Berkshire Hathaway
*Fortune* states that its ranking considers total revenues for each company’s respective fiscal year ending on or before March 31, as reported to a governmental agency.
While last year’s Global 500 companies amassed a collective $41 trillion in revenue, reflecting a mere 0.1% increase year-over-year, this year’s total revenue reached $41.7 trillion, representing a 1.8% growth.
In a press release issued today, *Fortune* remarked:
> “The financial sector continues to lead the list, with 121 companies at the helm, followed by energy (79), motor vehicles and parts (35), technology (34), and healthcare (33). Collectively, these sectors constitute 60% of the companies on the list and account for 66% of the total revenue generated.”
Particularly in the tech sector, *Fortune* highlighted that Amazon, Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta, Nvidia, and Tesla generated a combined revenue of $2 trillion and $484 billion in net income.
