Apple Intends to Skip iPhone 19 and Launch iPhone 20 Straight Away

Should the information be accurate, it seems that Apple aims to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone in a more official manner. Remember that the first iPhone was launched in June 2007.
By omitting the iPhone 19 label and advancing immediately to the iPhone 20, Apple is indicating that the iPhone 20 will stand out as special. This strategy is similar to what Apple employed during the launch of the iPhone X a few years back. From Apple’s perspective, the iPhone X was such a notable technological advancement that it deserved a distinctive name.
A groundbreaking new product, Apple reasoned, deserves a striking new title. And rightly so — the iPhone X was the inaugural iPhone featuring an edge-to-edge screen. It also became the first iPhone to incorporate Face ID instead of the Touch ID embedded within a home button. Reflecting on the naming approach at the time, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the iPhone X “has no predecessor product” and is not “replacing something that existed.”
