Finally: Countries Start To Rebel Against Corporate Sovereignty, But Ten Years Too Late

Back in 2013, Techdirt wrote about “the monster lurking inside free trade agreements”. Formally, the monster is known as Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS), but here on Techdirt we call it “corporate sovereignty“, because that is what it is: a system of secret courts that effectively places companies above a government, by allowing them to sue

The best early Black Friday kitchen deals include air fryers, coffee makers, and KitchenAid mixers galore

Stand mixer on a counter next to a cake

UPDATE: Oct. 31, 2022, 6:00 p.m. EDT This story has been updated to reflect the latest pricing and availability from early Black Friday sales.

Don’t have time to check out all the best Black Friday kitchen deals? Here are some of our top picks:

Owning kitchen tools that you actually enjoy using can make a big difference in how often you’re opening up food delivery apps.

The upfront cost of upgrading your kitchen arsenal can get lofty pretty quickly. Our advice? Take advantage of Black Friday sales, whether you’re getting your first air fryer or springing for a fancy coffee maker.

Already, we’ve seen retailers including Target, Best Buy, Amazon, and Walmart roll out early savings for shopping holidays, bringing deals like KitchenAid stand mixers for $200 off and Ninja Foodis marked down $100 or more.

There are a ton of deals to take advantage of, but to make your life easy, we’ve selected a few of our absolute favorites. Check them out below, along with more of the best early Black Friday kitchen deals.

KitchenAid Professional five quart stand mixer$249.99 $449.99 (save $200)

Why we like it

KitchenAid stand mixers are basically in a class of their own. Any home baker worth their salt (sugar?) probably has one or wants one, and it’s not just for the status of the KitchenAid name. Yes, you’ll pay more, but these mixers are built to last for years and years.

This five-quart mixer is the perfect size for most standard baking projects, is compatible with 10 different attachments (available for additional purchase), runs at 10 speeds to get you that just-right mix, and stays stable on your countertop. We typically see these mixers drop around shopping holidays so it’s more than possible we’ll see this one on sale again, but they are likely to sell out quickly (especially in more popular shades). Scoring $200 off isn’t a bad deal at all, and between Best Buy and Target, you have your choice of five different colors.

NutriBullet Pro$59 $99.99 (save $40.99)

Why we like it

We’re might be past peak smoothie season, but once warm weather hits again, you won’t regret having saved on this tiny blender. For starters, it’s nice and compact, so storage isn’t an issue.

Don’t let its size deceive you — this 900-watt personal blender can tackle frozen fruit and ice without issue. With the 32 or 24-ounce cup, you can make one to two smoothies in one go, and even take it on-the-go with the convenient to-go lid. For smaller households (or people tight on kitchen space), this is one of the best blenders you can grab. Typically, it’s hard to catch it on sale, making this $59 deal an especially great find.

Ninja Foodi 14-in-1 eight quart XL pressure cooker and steam fryer with SmartLid$149.99 $279.99 (save $130)

Why we like it

The beauty of the multicooker is to add the functionality of several appliances to your kitchen without taking up the space of several appliances. Don’t get us wrong — the eight-quart XL 14-in-1 cooker will take up some counter real estate, but what it offers in return might just be worth it for you.

Ninja Foodis are known for being great at providing the best crisp possible, and this Foodi is no exception. In addition, its pressure cooker will get you tender, flavorful food on the table much faster than any slow cooker out there. Typically, Foodi’s biggest downfall against its top competitor, Instant Pot, is that they lean more on the pricey side. But with $130 markdown, Best Buy’s deal puts this multicooker at one of the best prices we’ve ever seen it at — and offers the best deal on this model by far as compared to other retailers at the time of writing.
