## How Huddles Work
Initiating a Huddle in Google Chat is simple. Users can select the **Video** icon in the Google Chat toolbar, opening a dropdown with choices for **Call**, **Meet**, and **Huddle**. By clicking **Start a Huddle**, the dialogue commences as audio-only. All participants in the Google Chat space or individual chat receive a notification saying: “[User] has initiated a huddle, click ‘Join’ to participate.”
Although Huddles primarily focus on audio, they also enable screen sharing and video, offering versatility for those needing to convey visual details. This makes them an adaptable tool for both swift discussions and more comprehensive collaborative tasks.
## Availability and Integration
Huddles are driven by Google Meet but are fully woven into Google Chat, removing the necessity for users to toggle between applications. However, there are some restrictions: employees in environments that do not activate Google Meet can join Huddles but cannot initiate them.
The feature is being rolled out to specific Google Workspace tiers, such as Business Starter, Standard, and Plus; Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus; Frontline Starter and Standard; Essentials; Enterprise Essentials; and Nonprofits. Users on rapid-release domains will gain immediate access to Huddles, while those on scheduled-release domains will need to wait until January 6, 2025.
