Apple has significant transformations in store for the iPhone 17 series, highlighted by the introduction of the brand-new iPhone 17 Air. In the meantime, a recent report today confirms a modification we can anticipate for the most affordable iPhone 17 variant: a slightly bigger screen.
With the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max last year, Apple marginally expanded the screen dimensions from 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively. However, the base model iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus maintained the smaller dimensions.
This year, the iPhone “Plus” version is being substituted with the iPhone 17 Air. The standard iPhone 17, on the other hand, will continue to be part of the lineup.
According to a fresh subscriber update from trusted analyst Ross Young, the iPhone 17 will showcase the same size display as the iPhone 17 Pro, increasing from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches (specifically, 6.27 inches to be precise).
This alteration has been reported several times by various sources, making it a safe assumption to believe it’s accurate. More noteworthy than the increase in display size, though, is that the base model iPhone 17 will also finally transition to a 120Hz refresh rate screen. Traditionally, Apple has confined its ProMotion display technology to the Pro model iPhones. The iPhone 17 will also reportedly introduce always-on display functionality as well.
The combination of the larger screen and ProMotion technology should make the base model iPhone 17 significantly more attractive to numerous customers.
