Nothing OS 4.0 is poised for release later this autumn, as stated by Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei. This upcoming operating system will utilize Android 16 and is anticipated to launch between July and September. The recently unveiled Nothing Phone 3 will be the first device to get this update, followed by earlier models such as the Nothing Phone 2. Android 16, which was made available for Pixel devices last month, introduces UI enhancements like Material 3 expressive and Gemini integration. Nothing OS 4.0 is set to deliver a secure and enhanced Android experience, featuring AI functionalities embedded within the system. Currently, the Nothing Phone 3 operates on Nothing OS 3.5, which is based on Android 15, and includes features like Essential Space and Flip To Record. The device is scheduled to receive five years’ worth of Android OS updates and seven years of security updates.
