While I lean towards a more conventional sound, I still desire open-ear spatial awareness and a reliable ear hook to ensure I’m never caught off guard by a cyclist approaching from behind or to avoid losing an earbud while sprinting.
Introducing the Shokz OpenFit 2! These earbuds provide unexpectedly rich sound — I rarely need to increase the volume beyond 50% outside of phone calls — feature IP55 water resistance to prevent sweat damage, and possess an ergonomic hook that remains comfortable after hours of use.
This marks Shokz’s initial discount on these 2025 fitness earbuds since their release, and it’s already a significant reduction! I have my Shokz OpenFit 2s connected to my phone and laptop. They seamlessly switch from one device to the other as soon as you begin playing audio, allowing for effortless transition from workouts to work or leisure.
The first-generation Shokz OpenFit — which are also on sale for Prime Day — share the same advantages, but they come with drawbacks: unreliable touch controls, less comfortable hooks, and a tendency to not charge properly in the case. Shokz enhanced the OpenFit 2 with stronger magnets to ensure proper charging, tactile buttons for simpler controls while on the move, and an improved design, which has proven to be highly effective.
My sole issues with the Shokz OpenFit 2? There’s no Find My feature if the case slips down a couch cushion, and Shokz fails to notify you when the case is low on power, leaving the earbuds at a reduced charge. My suggestion is to opt for the Beige OpenFits for easier visibility and just make a point to charge the case periodically!
Otherwise, the Shokz OpenFit 2 is my everyday running partner, and I would be excited to purchase them at this price. However, if you prefer bone conduction headphones, you will find other Shokz earbuds available on sale for Prime Day as well.
