Essential information

  • Google has announced the introduction of a brand-new testing platform: the Android Canary Release Channel.
  • This channel aims to provide developers with an in-depth look at very early test versions (API) of Android and the upcoming features.
  • This channel is akin to Chrome Canary, which is updated much more often than Google’s stated “once a month” schedule for Android Canary.

No, this isn’t Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3; instead, Google is unveiling an unexpected rollout of a new testing environment for Android users.

This afternoon (July 10), Google revealed on the Android Beta subreddit the launch of the Android Canary Release Channel for developers. The company describes this channel as an “experimental new option for developers” eager to get early insights into forthcoming Android features and APIs in development. The initial release is being rolled out to Pixel users, from the Pixel 6 series up to the Pixel 9, as well as the Pixel Fold and Tablet.

Developers with a qualifying Pixel device can start downloading the ZP11.250606.010.A1 build to experience the latest Android version features.
