Samsung Running Coach: Creative Idea Obstructed by Equipment and Implementation Issues

Samsung’s Running Coach, found on the Galaxy Watch 8, provides a customized training regimen for runners, aiming to assist both novices and seasoned athletes in achieving goals like 5Ks and marathons. Although the idea is intriguing, it currently does not deliver effectively, especially for advanced runners. The program evaluates users through a questionnaire and a 12-minute running assessment, yet its ranking mechanism and training programs frequently do not correspond with the skills of more experienced runners. Moreover, the Galaxy Watch 8’s hardware challenges, such as inconsistent GPS and heart rate metrics, further obstruct its utility. While the Running Coach is a positive development for beginners, it needs enhancements to genuinely support all runners.
