Upcoming iPhone 17 Event: Remain Vigilant for Possible Counterfeit Invitations

The most probable date for the iPhone 17 event is now the speculated iPhone 17 event date. No surprises there. But when can we expect Apple to officially confirm the date of its upcoming major product reveal, and what should you make of that event invitation leak circulating on social media?

## iPhone 17 event right on schedule

With a few exceptions, Apple generally unveils new flagship iPhone models during the second week of September each year. This year seems to be adhering to that pattern with an event rumored for Tuesday, September 9th. If the usual pattern holds, we should anticipate iPhone 17 pre-orders to commence on Friday, September 12th, and the initial hardware to reach customers a week later on Friday, September 19th.

So far, there are no rumors indicating any specific iPhone 17 model being delayed, but there is certainly a history of some models shipping later in previous years. For instance, the iPhone X was actually shipped in November in 2017 following the iPhone 8 launch in September that same year. In other instances, Apple has debuted newer variations in October. It all hinges on production timelines.

For now, we expect four new iPhones to be presented in September: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the latest style with iPhone 17 Air.

## When will Apple make it official?

While we anticipate Apple to officially announce the new iPhone lineup next month, we can likely look forward to an announcement regarding the event itself later this month. Here are some recent iPhone event dates and event announcement dates for context:

| Model | Event Announcement | Event Date | Delta |
|————-|——————–|———————|———–|
| iPhone 16 | Monday, August 26 | Monday, September 9 | 14 days |
| iPhone 15 | Tuesday, August 29 | Tuesday, September 12| 14 days |
| iPhone 14 | Wednesday, August 24| Wednesday, September 7| 14 days |
| iPhone 13 | Tuesday, September 7| Tuesday, September 14| 7 days |
| iPhone 12 | Tuesday, October 6 | Tuesday, October 13 | 7 days |
| iPhone 11 | Thursday, August 29 | Tuesday, September 10| 12 days |

As illustrated, things became unusual around the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, but 2020 and 2021 were challenging years for planning, considering the global pandemic and all.

Apple continues to favor Tuesdays for event announcements and event dates. Over the last three years, Apple has maintained a consistent two-week gap between announcing an iPhone event and the actual event.

For these reasons, we can likely expect Apple to officially make an announcement this year on Tuesday, August 26. That’s just three weeks from today. Of course, the event date is still speculative, and the event announcement prediction is based on historical patterns. This means everything remains uncertain for now, but we’re likely to see an inventive event tagline by the end of this month.

As of today, we’re roughly 12 days away from the event invitation actually going live. Meanwhile, the annual phony event invitation has already been making the rounds.

If Apple ever does inadvertently leak an invitation, no one will buy it after years of these attention-grabbing fake event invites.
