Meta has unveiled a new AI-driven translation tool for creators on Instagram and Facebook, aimed at improving the accessibility of video content in various languages. This cutting-edge feature employs artificial intelligence to automatically dub videos, featuring advanced functions such as lip-syncing and voice replication, which strive to preserve the original tone and presentation of the creator.
At present, the tool facilitates two-way translations between English and Spanish, with intentions to add more languages in the future. Creators can utilize this feature to have their Reels automatically dubbed into the desired language, enabling viewers to experience the content in their chosen language. A discreet indicator will notify viewers that the video has been translated using Meta AI.
Eligibility for this feature is available to all Instagram users with public accounts and Facebook creators possessing a minimum of 1,000 followers. The rollout is confined to certain countries where Meta AI is accessible, excluding areas such as the European Union, United Kingdom, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, Nigeria, Turkey, South Africa, Texas, and Illinois.
### How to Use the Translation Tool
For Facebook creators, enabling the translation feature is simple:
1. Create a Facebook Reel.
2. Click “Translate your voice with Meta AI.”
3. Optionally, activate the “Add lip syncing” feature.
4. Optionally, click “Review before publishing.”
5. Choose the languages for translation.
6. Click the back chevron.
7. Click “Share now.”
After the translation, dubbing, and lip-syncing processes are finished, creators will receive a notification to examine and approve the translated video. They will be able to remove the lip-sync feature or entirely delete the translation, as well as report any translation mistakes.
Meta also intends to provide metrics to help creators understand the performance of their content by language, allowing them to identify which languages their audience favors. Furthermore, creators can upload up to 20 translated audio tracks for a single Facebook Reel via the Meta Business Suite platform.
