Report: Anticipated First All-Screen Display iPhone Launching Next Year

The aspiration for a full-display iPhone without any cutout might become a reality sooner than anticipated. A recent analyst report suggests that next year’s iPhone Fold could potentially be the first iPhone to place camera components beneath the display, resulting in a genuinely all-screen design.

### iPhone Fold Anticipated to Feature Under-Display Front Camera

When Apple introduced the iPhone X in 2017, it highlighted a “beautiful all-glass design.” However, this design featured a notch, which reduced to the Dynamic Island in 2022. Now, it appears Apple is on the verge of unveiling its initial all-screen, cutout-free iPhone.

In a fresh JPMorgan analyst report examined by 9to5Mac, the firm outlined projections for the upcoming years of iPhone innovations. One particularly striking detail pertains to the new iPhone Fold set to release in 2026. The report indicates that Apple’s iPhone Fold will incorporate a 24MP front camera beneath the display.

The iPhone Fold is expected to have front cameras on both the outer and inner displays. Consequently, it seems plausible that Apple will use the same selfie camera in both areas. If JPMorgan’s predictions hold true, this will be the first instance of an iPhone employing under-display camera technology.

This advancement is significant for another reason: since the iPhone Fold will not contain any Face ID components, it appears the screen will be completely free of cutouts. With no openings for a camera and no Face ID cutout as Apple opts for Touch ID instead, we may be looking at genuinely all-screen displays.

Previous reports suggested that the iPhone Fold would implement a hole-punch cutout for its front camera. However, one leaker had earlier indicated that the outer display might feature a hole-punch while the inner one utilized an under-display camera. His assertions were unclear, but with an under-display camera, there’s no requirement for even a minimized camera cutout.

Thus, it’s quite possible that both the outer and inner displays of the iPhone Fold will be devoid of notches or even the Dynamic Island—at least in terms of hardware, as the software feature will likely persist. This would signify a considerable advancement for iPhone design and segue neatly into the speculated ‘iPhone 20’ model in the subsequent year.
