inventory for the iPhone 17 series has been monitored every Friday since the launch of the four new devices online. Our tracking began on the first day of preorders, September 12, and over two months later, our observations indicate that iPhone 17 availability remains limited in several markets, particularly in North America. We have been monitoring the same countries weekly, utilizing the shipping delay information provided by Apple’s local online stores to assess demand. Throughout the past few months, we have observed several trends, including some unexpected ones.
For instance, the iPhone 17 Pro Max consistently showed as sold out. It was the first model to go out of stock on the very first day of preorders. Perhaps more unexpectedly, the base iPhone 17 model, which sold out during the initial preorder weekend, has continued to be sold out in major markets like the U.S. since then. Equally surprising is that the base iPhone 17 Pro is currently available in all the markets we have been keeping an eye on, as noted below. The handset was also in stock last week. Lastly, the iPhone Air has seldom indicated any shipping delay predictions online. China was a significant case last month; however, the ultra-thin handset only began sales in the country in mid-October, subsequent to Apple’s approval from local regulators.
What’s intriguing this week is that iPhone 17 stock has seen improvements in the U.S., where it had experienced severe supply restrictions in the previous weeks. Simultaneously, certain European markets are experiencing renewed shipping delays compared to the previous week. Regardless, the base iPhone 17 model is facing longer wait times than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, marking a significant shift for Apple’s most affordable iPhone variant.
