Meta has announced a major upgrade to its AI smart glasses, launching the v21 software that improves noise cancellation and key listening functions. The highlight feature, “Conversation Focus,” is intended to boost voices in loud settings, facilitating easier communication for users. This functionality is currently accessible to early access participants in the U.S. and Canada.
Alongside Conversation Focus, Meta is introducing a multimodal AI music experience in partnership with Spotify. This feature provides song recommendations tailored to the user’s context and environment, delivering a customized music experience. For example, if a user finds themselves at a Christmas market, they can request the glasses to play music that fits the atmosphere. This feature is accessible to early access users in various countries, including Australia, Canada, India, and the U.S.
The update, which started being deployed on December 16, is exclusively for those enrolled in the early access program for the RayBan Meta or Oakley Meta HSTN glasses. Users can modify the voice amplification of the Conversation Focus feature by swiping the right temple of the glasses or via device settings. Simultaneously, the Spotify integration employs computer vision and recognition technology to enhance the music experience, enabling users to create playlists or play songs that align with their present view or activity.
