On Wednesday, Google introduced its latest budget-friendly smartphone, the Pixel 10a, priced at $499. The device features new AI software and minor hardware enhancements, available for preorder now, with deliveries beginning March 5. The phone is offered in Lavender, Berry, Fog, and Obsidian.
The Pixel 10a’s design includes a flat back, allowing the camera bar to blend seamlessly and lie flat on surfaces.
Google highlights that the phone’s 6.3-inch Actua display is 11% brighter than the Pixel 9a. It supports faster charging, with over 30 hours of battery life and up to 120 hours with “Extreme Battery Saver.”
The Pixel 10a retains the Tensor G4 chip from the Pixel 9a and boasts a 48 MP main camera claimed to be the best under $500, along with a 13 MP ultrawide camera.
AI-powered camera features initially introduced with the Pixel 10 series are now available in this A-series model. These include “Auto Best Take,” which selects the optimal frame in group photos, and “Camera Coach” for guidance on lighting and composition.
For the first time in the A-series, Google offers “Satellite SOS,” allowing users to reach emergency services without Wi-Fi or cellular service.
The Pixel 10a will receive seven years of software and security updates.
Unlike the Pixel 10 series, the Pixel 10a does not include the “PixelSnap” magnetic Qi charging feature.
This release precedes Apple’s new budget phone, the iPhone 17e, expected to debut at $599.
Additionally, Google announced the launch of Pixel Buds 2a in Berry and Fog colors to complement the Pixel 10a.
