Blender Studio is the creative division of the Blender Foundation, focusing on creating films, games, and other projects to highlight Blender’s capabilities. The studio serves as both an art and tech lab, pushing 3D animation limits through open productions. They provide public access to their assets, production files, and workflows, offering artists and developers valuable resources for learning and development.
Recently, Blender Studio launched its second game, DOGWALK, where players control a dog navigating snowy woods with a child. The game was developed using open-source tools like Blender, the Godot engine, Krita for concept art, Kitsu for project management, and Linux.
Simon Thommes, a Lead Technical Artist at Blender Studio and DOGWALK developer, joins the podcast with Joe Nash to discuss Blender Studio, DOGWALK’s development, and the Blender-Godot workflow pipeline.
Joe Nash, depicted here, is a developer, educator, and community builder with experience at GitHub, Twilio, Unity, and PayPal. He began his software journey by creating mods and running servers for Garry’s Mod, and he continues to explore new technologies through game development.
