After some time without testing laptops, CHUWI has provided us with their latest CoreBook AirPlay 16 for evaluation. It is equipped with a mid-range AMD Ryzen 5 6600H hexa-core processor, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, a 512GB NVMe SSD, and a 16-inch display featuring a resolution of 1920×1200.
The review of the CoreBook Air Plus 16 begins with a rundown of its specifications, followed by an unboxing and teardown to inspect the hardware, culminating with a boot of the pre-installed Windows 11 Pro. In subsequent parts, we will conduct a more detailed test using Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu 24.04 or 26.04 (Snapshot 4).

The laptop is pre-loaded with Windows 11 Pro. We haven’t tested an AMD Ryzen 5 6600H before, but have reviewed other AMD Ryzen 6000 systems, such as the GEEKOM A6 mini PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H and GEEKOM AS 6 mini PC with a Ryzen 9 6900HX. The Ryzen 6000 series was announced in 2022, so manage performance expectations. The CHUWI CoreBook Air Plus 16 is a cost-effective, mid-range laptop suitable for web browsing, office tasks, light gaming, and video streaming.
