Jeffrey Ullman, a distinguished computer scientist and professor emeritus at Stanford University, is celebrated for his significant contributions to database systems, compilers, and algorithms. He co-authored seminal texts like Principles of Database Systems and Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools (commonly known as the “Dragon Book”), shaping generations of computer science students.

In 2020, Jeffrey was awarded the Turing Award alongside Alfred Aho for their foundational algorithms and theories in programming language implementation, and for synthesizing these findings in their influential books that educated generations of computer scientists.

In this episode, he joins Kevin Ball to discuss his life and career.
