Wispr Flow Unveils AI-Powered Dictation App for Android

AI-powered dictation startup Wispr Flow has unveiled its Android app today. Initially, the company launched its app for Mac and Windows, followed by an iOS release in June 2025.

On iOS, Wispr Flow users can access the app via a dedicated keyboard. However, the Android version features a different interface, using a floating bubble for access. Users can hold the bubble to dictate or click it to start and stop dictation. Similar to other platforms, the app not only supports dictation but also filters out filler words and formats text according to the app’s context and spoken content.

“Android finally gave us the freedom to build the voice experience we always wanted. Only when the platform gets out of the way can we truly expect voice to replace typing on mobile,” said Tanay Kothari, co-founder and CEO of Wispr Flow.

The app supports translations in over 100 languages and functions across various apps. Alongside the Android app launch, Wispr Flow announced an infrastructure overhaul that accelerates dictation by 30%.

While numerous AI-powered dictation apps exist on desktop and iOS, Wispr Flow stands out as it joins only a few others, like Typeless, on Android, who launched an app for the platform last month.

Furthermore, the company introduced a new model for Hinglish, a blend of Hindi and English, catering to India’s mix-coded speakers.

“If you’re someone like me, English and Hindi weave together when I’m chatting with family and colleagues back home. This is one of those times when I just had to build something for me: the first voice model to actually support transcription in Hinglish instead of traditional Hindi script,” Kothari said.

The company stated that during its early rollout to select users, over 1.3 million words in English have been spoken.

Wispr Flow is among the prominent startups in the AI-powered dictation space, attracting significant venture capital interest. In June, it raised $30 million led by Menlo Ventures, and by November, secured an additional $25 million from Notable Capital, bringing its total funding to $81 million. The last round valued the startup at $700 million, as per sources.
