Acme Weather is now available for iOS with an annual subscription fee of $25, with plans for an Android version in the future. The creators of Dark Sky, having sold their app to Apple in 2020, have launched this new app that provides a main forecast for the day alongside several alternate predictions, acknowledging the variability of weather forecasts. Currently, Acme Weather is only available on iOS, offering a two-week free trial before requiring a subscription. The app aims to offer superior forecasts by incorporating satellite data, ground observations, and radar information. Alternate predictions appear as lines indicating potential weather changes throughout the day, with reliability visualized through the proximity of these lines. Users can report local weather conditions to enhance informational accuracy during active events, with community input represented on a map using icons. In addition to maps of radar, precipitation, wind, temperature, and more, Acme Weather maintains the renowned notification features of Dark Sky, now customizable to alert users to rain, severe weather warnings, nearby lightning, and potential rainbows.
