AI integration in office software may not seem captivating, but it’s financially significant. On Tuesday, Anthropic revealed enhancements for its Claude Cowork platform, enabling wider assistance with office tasks. Claude Cowork can now interface with popular office applications like Google Workspace, Docusign, and WordPress, offering new pre-built plug-ins to automate tasks across various sectors, including HR, design, engineering, and finance. Moreover, Claude now manages multi-step tasks between Excel and PowerPoint.

This update is Anthropic’s latest foray into AI agents following the initial launch of Claude Cowork last month. Anthropic’s coding agent, Claude Code, is increasing in popularity, even alongside rival Microsoft, which provides competing AI office features. Earlier this month, Anthropic rolled out Claude Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6, both of which claim improved capabilities for performing complex and work-related tasks, like navigating spreadsheets.

The updated Claude Cowork tools will be accessible from Tuesday to all users within Cowork, a research preview feature available to those with paid Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions.
