Premium users now have the ability to automatically sort Mixed playlists by each track’s BPM and key.
Spotify’s “Mix” feature has introduced a new option called “Smart Reorder” that automatically organizes playlists based on beats per minute (BPM) and key, enhancing the seamless flow between tracks. This builds on Spotify’s existing Mix feature and allows users to have an automated DJ experience with their playlists, incorporating transitions between songs that were introduced in August.
Announced on Wednesday, the “Smart Reorder” option is currently available in the Spotify app for Premium subscribers. To try it out, users can open a playlist, tap the “Mix” button, then select “Edit.” The “Smart Reorder” button can be found at the bottom of the editing screen. Caution is advised before saving, as using Smart Reorder will override any custom sorting on the playlist being edited.
This Smart Reorder feature is the latest in Spotify’s automated playlist options, following an update to its playlist chatbot last month that introduced “Prompted Playlists” for Premium users in the US and Canada.
