Intrinsic aims to simplify programming, teaching, and operating robots. Google is integrating Alphabet’s AI robotics project, Intrinsic, into the company after five years of independence. This demonstrates Google’s strategic focus on physical AI, aligning experimental projects with its core business. Intrinsic, which became independent in Alphabet’s Other Bets division in 2021, develops software and tools for robotics, likening itself to Android for robots. Although details of the acquisition are unclear, Google stated Intrinsic will continue as a “distinct group” within the company. It will collaborate with Google DeepMind and leverage Google’s AI models and cloud resources. DeepMind previously absorbed Alphabet’s Everyday Robotics division and launched AI models for robotic tasks.
