eBay is reducing its workforce by about 800 jobs, accounting for 6% of its full-time employees.
“We are taking steps to reinvest across our business and align our structure with our strategic priorities, which will affect certain roles across our workforce,” the company stated. “We are grateful for the contributions of the employees impacted and are committed to supporting them with care and respect.”
Bloomberg first reported the news.
The decision follows eBay’s announcement last week that it would acquire Depop, a second-hand clothing app favored by Gen Z and millennials, from Etsy for $1.2 billion in cash.
Last week, eBay reported fourth-quarter results, with revenue increasing 15% to $3 billion, surpassing analysts’ predictions.
This is the third round of layoffs by eBay in the past three years. In early 2024, it reduced its workforce by 1,000 jobs, or about 9%. In early 2023, it cut approximately 500 employees, or about 4% of its staff.
