Bumble revealed on Thursday the addition of AI-driven features to enhance user connections, including feedback on bios, photos, and prompts. The new global AI-suggested profile guidance tool offers personalized feedback, while U.S. users can access an AI photo tool for selecting authentic images. Though the insights aren’t groundbreaking, such as advising against photos with sunglasses, they provide new information to many users. In Canada, Bumble is trialing a non-AI feature called “Suggest a Date” to encourage in-person meetings. This feature aims to signal a user’s readiness to connect offline, potentially motivating matches to meet. Bumble CTO Vivek Sagi stated the service reduces communication friction, fostering clarity and confidence. Bumble, along with Tinder and Hinge, has incorporated AI features; Hinge offers conversation starters, while Tinder’s “Chemistry” tool in Australia accesses users’ camera rolls for improved matching. Facebook Dating also proposes AI edits of unshared camera roll photos. Despite these efforts, some users are abandoning online dating in favor of real-world experiences.
