Amazon’s investment includes a strategic partnership, aiming to advance in the AI market through collaboration on custom models for applications like Alexa. AWS will become a third-party provider for OpenAI Frontier, using Amazon’s Trainium chips. Amazon is initially investing $15 billion, with an additional $35 billion contingent on achieving specific milestones, potentially including AGI development.
OpenAI maintains its strong partnership with Microsoft, although a revised agreement allows collaboration with Amazon as Microsoft expands its engagements with Anthropic. OpenAI is rumored to be launching a smart speaker in 2027, exploring deals with Disney, and facing competition from Anthropic and Google. CEO Sam Altman mentioned the possibility of an IPO at the right time, as reported by CNBC.
