Honor has introduced its latest foldable, the Honor Magic V6, featuring a substantial 6,600 mAh battery and a reinforced hinge, just before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
The Chinese firm continues to focus on creating the slimmest foldables, with this year’s model measuring 4mm thick when open and 8.75mm when closed. This is a slight improvement from last year’s Magic V5, which measured 4.1mm and 8.8mm respectively.
One of the standout features is the phone’s 6,600 mAh battery, an increase from the previous 5,820 mAh. Honor’s SuperCharge technology allows for 80W wired charging and 66W wireless charging. Additionally, they revealed a new Silicon-carbon battery tech with 32% silicon density that may increase foldable phone battery capacity beyond 7,000 mAh.
The device sports a 7.95-inch main AMOLED display with a resolution of 2352 x 2172 pixels, and a 6.52-inch cover display with a resolution of 2420 x 1080 pixels. Both screens support LTPO 2.0, enabling variable refresh rates from 1-120Hz to enhance content viewing and conserve power.
Honor has developed a new Super Steel Hinge with a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa for durability. The crease depth has been reduced by 44%, providing a smoother display, and the Magic V6 features a new anti-reflective coating on the external screen with a reflectivity of 1.5%.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, the phone includes 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage. The rear camera setup comprises a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.6 aperture, a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with an f/2.5 aperture, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The front boasts dual 20-megapixel cameras with an f/2.2 aperture.
Honor is ensuring compatibility for file and notification sharing with Apple devices. The Magic V6 allows two-way notification sync with an iPhone and can display notifications on an Apple Watch. It supports file sharing with Macs, and can function as an extended display.
The company hasn’t disclosed the device’s pricing, but it will launch the Magic V6 in select international markets in the second half of the year.
