Apple’s latest affordable smartphone, the iPhone 17E, maintains its starting price of $599 and now features MagSafe along with several other enhancements. Announced recently, the iPhone 17E offers 256GB of storage and is available in black, white, and pink. It retains a 6.1-inch display, now upgraded with Ceramic Shield 2 for improved scratch resistance and reduced glare. The addition of MagSafe charging, with Qi2 support, allows for wireless charging at up to 15W. Inside, it boasts a C1X chip, a next-gen Apple modem that doubles the speed, alongside a 48-megapixel “fusion” camera delivering an “optical-quality” 2x telephoto.
Amid hardware releases, Apple is developing a more personalized Siri powered by Google’s Gemini AI to better interpret personal contexts and operate on-screen. Although these features were slated for spring release, a Bloomberg report indicates potential delays. The iPhone 17E launch follows the iPhone 16E’s debut, which featured a 6.1-inch OLED screen, an Action Button, USB-C, and Apple’s initial in-house modem.
