The Studio Display XDR, priced at $3,299, features Mini LED backlighting and a 120Hz refresh rate.
After a few years without updates, Apple introduces two new 5K monitors: the 27-inch 5K Studio Display and the Studio Display XDR. Both models offer 5,120 x 2,880 resolutions and come with 12MP Center Stage cameras, three microphones, and six-speaker audio systems supporting spatial audio and “Hey Siri.” They also feature two Thunderbolt 5 ports and two USB-C ports.
The XDR version enhances its capabilities with Mini LED backlighting, 2,304 dimming zones, improved peak brightness, contrast, and black levels optimal for HDR. It supports adaptive sync from 47Hz to 120Hz with compatible devices like the M4 Mac or M5 iPad Pro. Unlike the standard model’s 60Hz, the XDR’s upstream port offers up to 140W host charging, suitable for fast-charging a 16-inch MacBook Pro, while the regular model supports 96W.
Preorders begin on March 4th, with shipments starting on March 11th. The Studio Display is available for $1,599, while the Studio Display XDR is $3,299, rising to $3,599 for the anti-reflective nano-texture glass option.
