Google Responds to Users’ Complaints About AI-Powered ‘Ask Photos’ Search Feature

1 Min Read

Google announced a new toggle for its Google Photos app, allowing users to switch back to the “classic” search experience from the newer AI-powered “Ask Photos” option. This feature, initially launched in 2024, allows users to search photos using natural language but faced delays due to latency issues. Some users felt the AI option wasn’t effective, citing missed photos and accuracy problems. Although users could disable the AI feature previously, it was not easily accessible in the settings. Now, users will have a more visible toggle on the search screen to switch between search modes. Shimrit Ben-Yair from Google Photos highlighted that this change was in response to user feedback, emphasizing improvements in popular search queries and encouraging more user input to refine the experience further.
