Sonos has introduced a new entry-level speaker called the Sonos Era 100 SL. Known for producing high-quality audio equipment, Sonos had been quiet since the release of its botched mobile app in July 2024. Now, the company returns to its roots with new speakers, starting with Sonos Play, a portable device that fits between the lightweight Roam 2 and the bulky Move 2. Weighing just 1.3 kg, Sonos Play offers 24-hour battery life, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a line-in jack, button controls, and a voice assistant, providing stereo sound with its dual tweeters and bass radiators. Meanwhile, the Sonos Era 100 SL, priced at $189, serves as an almost-entry-level option, slightly more expensive than the Sonos Roam 2 but providing enhanced sound performance. It features stereo sound, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and line-in capabilities but lacks voice control. Both the Sonos Era 100 SL and Sonos Play promise strong audio performance; they will be available on March 26 and March 31, respectively.
