Donald Trump attended a dignified transfer to honor fallen U.S. troops in Iran on Saturday, facing criticism for his choice of attire. “We’ve now lost seven American lives in Trump’s war on Iran, and honoring troops who sacrificed everything due to a decision you made is one of the most crucial duties of a president,” says Jimmy Kimmel. “But he couldn’t do it respectfully. On Saturday, Trump became the first president to attend a dignified transfer wearing his own merchandise: a gold Donald Trump brand USA hat.”
Kimmel highlights the fallout, noting Fox News faced criticism for using old footage of Trump during the event, for which the network later apologized. “I know if any president did something considered disrespectful — if Obama, Biden, or even Kamala Harris did that — if one of them breached military protocol, I’m sure Fox would look the other way too, right?” Kimmel adds.
This statement is followed by a montage of Fox News presenters criticizing Obama for saluting with a coffee cup and Biden for checking his watch during a dignified transfer.
