A Live-Action Adaptation of Samurai Champloo is in Development

1 Min Read

Shinichirō Watanabe is set to work on a new live-action adaptation of Samurai Champloo. Despite the previous disappointment with the live-action Cowboy Bebop, Watanabe is collaborating with Tomorrow Studios, the studio behind Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop and the successful adaptation of One Piece. Currently in the early stages of development with no distributor attached, the project is moving forward with confidence from Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, who emphasize the importance of having Watanabe’s involvement. The lackluster reception of Cowboy Bebop, where Watanabe had minimal creative input, has been a learning experience for the production team.
