Global ride-hailing company inDrive, recognized for its bid-based pricing model, has acquired Pakistan-based quick-commerce startup Krave Mart as it advances into grocery delivery and commerce services in South Asia.

The all-stock deal, agreed upon last year, has been approved by the Competition Commission of Pakistan, enabling the transaction to proceed, according to two sources familiar with the matter. inDrive confirmed the acquisition but did not disclose its financial details.

Founded in 2021, Krave Mart is a grocery delivery startup operating in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, offering deliveries in about 30 minutes via a network of dark stores.

This acquisition is part of inDrive’s strategy to expand beyond ride-hailing into grocery delivery and commerce services. Based in Mountain View, California, the company initially launched grocery deliveries in Kazakhstan in September 2025 and expanded to Pakistan in January through a partnership with Krave Mart, following an investment from inDrive in December 2024.

That investment was part of inDrive’s venture and mergers-and-acquisitions arm, started in November 2023 to invest up to $100 million over the coming years to support the company’s super-app strategy.

“We are pleased with the approval from the Competition Commission of Pakistan as we continue to work closely with Krave Mart to expand access to fast and reliable grocery delivery services, most recently launching in Lahore under the inDrive.Groceries brand,” said Andries Smit, Chief Growth Businesses Officer at inDrive, in an email statement.

He noted that the Krave Mart and inDrive brands will continue operating in Karachi while the company enhances its grocery delivery service.

Expanding grocery delivery in Pakistan presents challenges, as the market is dominated by Foodpanda, backed by German delivery group Delivery Hero, according to an industry source. Quick-commerce typically demands significant time and capital before becoming profitable, making it challenging for newcomers to scale, the source added.

According to Sensor Tower data, inDrive has been the world’s second-most downloaded ride-hailing app since 2022 and ranks as the fourth-most downloaded travel app globally, behind Google Maps, Uber, and Waze, with over 400 million downloads. The app is also the most downloaded ride-hailing service in nine countries, including Peru, Panama, Egypt, Morocco, and Pakistan, as per Sensor Tower.

inDrive operates in over 1,000 cities across 48 markets worldwide, providing a broad platform as it ventures into new services like grocery delivery.
