Google announced a range of new gaming updates to Google Play on Wednesday at GDC 2026. The updates include an expanded catalog featuring paid and PC indie games, game trials, “buy once, play anywhere” pricing, a wishlist tool, and community posts.

These enhancements show Google’s aim to transform Google Play into a comprehensive gaming hub where players can trial games, play across mobile and PC, sync progress, and engage with the gaming community.

Google is expanding its library of paid games over the coming months, including titles like Moonlight Peaks, Sledding Game, 9 Kings, Potion Craft, and Low-Budget Repairs, playable on both mobile and PC, with progress synced via Gamer Profile.

Game trials will be available soon for select paid mobile games, allowing users to continue from where they left off if they decide to purchase. Game trials are set to come to Google Play Games on PC later.

Google Play’s “Buy once, play anywhere” pricing allows a single purchase for both mobile and PC versions of games, applicable to select games like the Reigns series, OTTTD, and Dungeon Clawler.

A new PC section in the Play Store’s Games tab will feature titles optimized for Windows PCs. Users can add desired games to their wishlist and receive notifications when they go on sale.

Google is introducing community posts for users to discuss game-related topics directly within Google Play, similar to interactions on platforms like Reddit.

Community Posts are currently in English for select games, with more languages and games to follow.

Google is also bringing its Play Games Sidekick feature to select paid games, providing real-time gaming assistance.

These updates follow a previous announcement six months ago of a redesigned Play Games experience with a centralized Games tab for tracking stats, achievements, and community interaction, as well as Play Games Leagues for competitive challenges and rewards.

The redesigned Play Games experience was launched alongside a revamped Apps tab, a new tab for personalized interests, and Gemini-powered features like “Guided Search” for easier app and game discovery.
