More AI, yet more IRL?
By Anna Iovine on March 12, 2026
Tinder just announced several product updates at its inaugural event, Tinder Sparks — featuring its AI matchmaker, safety upgrades, and an astrology mode. Tinder is modernizing its look and improving user onboarding by encouraging fully completed profiles. Here’s what’s new:
New Tinder AI Features
Like Bumble and Hinge, Tinder is embracing AI. Today’s announcement follows previous AI-powered feature rollouts. Chemistry, an AI-powered matchmaker, launches today in the U.S. and Canada. It uses Q&A and camera roll scans to provide curated daily match recommendations.
Tinder’s camera roll scan is an opt-in feature that discovers interests based on patterns. Upcoming features include Visual Interests and AI-powered Photo Enhanced.
Tinder is introducing a real-time recommendation system, “Learning Mode,” aimed at enhancing user experience and encouraging app return.
New Modes for Music and Astrology Lovers
Tinder launches Music Mode with Spotify redesign and the new Astrology Mode featuring compatibility insights using Sun, Moon, and Rising signs. Both modes are globally available.
Encouraging More IRL Moments
Tinder pilots an Events feature in Los Angeles for users to signal interest in attending local happenings like pottery classes or trivia nights. A video speed-dating feature is also tested in Los Angeles.
Tinder Safety Upgrades
Tinder enhances its “Are You Sure?” and “Does This Bother You?” features with AI. “Are You Sure?” will better detect harm, and “Does This Bother You?” will auto-blur disrespectful messages.
Duolingo and Beli… on Tinder?
New partnerships with Duolingo and Beli will expand Tinder’s integrations. More than half of Tinder users are under 30, and these updates aim to provide a more authentic, engaging experience. Read Mashable’s guide to understand Tinder better.
