Spotify Tests Allowing Users to Customize Their Taste Profile Directly

Your podcast feed now includes filters. Spotify Premium users in New Zealand are the first to experience a new personalization feature that allows them to view and modify their Taste Profile directly. Users can instruct the algorithm to adjust recommendations if there’s an excess of certain content. Beta testers can access this feature by selecting Taste Profile from the sidebar menu. The Taste Profile reveals frequently listened artists and trends in listening habits. For example, it might indicate someone is exploring ’90s alternative rock. At the screen’s bottom is a “Tell us more” box for users to specify musical preferences, including podcasts, which affects recommendations. Users can request more hip hop or high-energy tracks if training for a marathon. This feature is similar to Spotify’s Prompted Playlists, powered by chatbots. Additionally, Spotify introduces filters to the Following Feed for podcasts, allowing users to see only unplayed episodes, ongoing content, or video podcasts.
