Appleās new MacBook Neo is not only the most affordable MacBook yet, but also the most repairable in over a decade, as noted by a detailed teardown from iFixit.
The highlight, according to iFixit, is the battery. Unlike older models with glued-in batteries, the Neo’s battery is housed in a tray fastened with 18 screws. While that may seem excessive, iFixit prefers screws to adhesive, calling this setup a win and a cause for celebration at their office.
Additional factors contributing to the Neo’s improved repairability include a straightforward disassembly process, a receptive Repair Assistant for replacement parts, and a display and keyboard that are easier to replace.
Despite these improvements, iFixit still noted drawbacks, like soldered RAM and storage, resulting in a repairability score of 6 out of 10. However, for a MacBook, iFixit considered this a commendable rating.
