Siri’s evolution has been underwhelming compared to rivals like Google and Amazon, and current reports suggest the new Siri update is causing Apple to delay its next-gen home products. Last year, Mark Gurman revealed to Bloomberg that Apple was developing new home products such as HomePod updates, indoor security cameras, and a tabletop robot, all voice-controlled. These were initially set for last year but postponed to spring 2026. Now, a recent report indicates a disconnect between Apple’s hardware and software divisions is causing further delays.
A focal point is a smart home display intended to rival Amazon’s Echo Show, using AI and facial recognition to provide personalized information. However, due to Siri’s slow development, these devices are delayed until likely September, coinciding with the new iPhone release and enhanced Siri assistant.
Eager Apple fans must wait, but the simultaneous fall release of these products increases pressure on Apple’s AI leadership, marking September as a significant period for the company.
