Part chair, part rotating storage solution for that ignored laundry pile. Seating technology has potentially peaked with the Laundry Chair, created by YouTuber and inventor Simone Giertz, now available on Kickstarter. This chair provides a storage solution that remains functional even when covered with clothes too clean to wash yet too dirty to put away.
Priced at $1,100, the Laundry Chair features a rotating rail on a Lazy Susan, enabling laundry draping without obstructing the arms or seat. It has a hardwood frame with green cotton corduroy upholstery, and a second color is forthcoming. Early backers can enjoy discounts up to $200, with deliveries set for November 2026.
Originally a prototype for a 2024 YouTube video, Giertz decided to market the chair through her Yetch brand. “I created the Laundry Chair because I was tired of staring at my pile of half-dirty clothes,” she said.
The movable rail allows easier stacking and partially hides the mess behind the chair. It also helps the clothes breathe, reducing moisture, wrinkles, and odors. Giertz has also experimented with other rotating furniture, like a coffee table that doubles as an ottoman, and foldable clothes hangers available on her Yetch webstore.
The Kickstarter campaign states, “No piles. No unusable chairs. No pretending you’ll deal with it later. It’s about airing clothes, not overwashing them.”
Despite limited color options, the Laundry Chair’s cost seems fair for custom furniture. While cheaper solutions like a clothes rack exist to tackle bedside clothing piles, they often lack aesthetic appeal. It’s already instinctive to place clothes on a chair, so why change habits?
