Both streaming devices feature the revamped Fire TV OS and support Dolby Atmos, but the Max model includes more storage.

With Amazon’s redesigned Fire TV OS release, the latest streaming sticks have become significantly better. Currently, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and Fire TV Stick 4K Plus are available at their best prices during Amazon’s early Big Spring Sale event. You can buy the Fire TV Stick 4K Max for $34.99, a $25 discount, at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target. The Fire TV Stick 4K Plus is also available for $24.99, $25 off the usual price, at the same retailers.

The updated Fire TV OS simplifies finding content, providing recommendations from subscriptions and adding tabs for TV shows, news, sports, and live content across the top of the screen. A redesigned apps row allows up to 20 pinned favorites for quicker navigation between services. Voice navigation is supported via Alexa Plus, enabling specific commands like opening ESPN on Sling TV, searching for scenes or content, checking sports scores, or controlling smart home devices. The remote can even quickly display feeds from devices like Ring cameras.

The primary differences between the two sticks are in hardware features. As the higher-end option, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max includes a few additional benefits. Both models support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, but the Fire TV Stick 4K Max offers double the storage at 16GB and Wi-Fi 6E support for faster connections. It also comes with Amazon’s Alexa Voice Remote Enhanced, offering extra shortcuts such as a button for quick access to live TV listings.
