Picsart, the AI-powered design platform, is launching an AI agent marketplace for creators to “hire” AI assistants for tasks like resizing and remixing social content, or editing product photos on Shopify.
Picsart, with over 130 million global users largely consisting of Gen Z, functions like an advanced Canva for social media managers and creators. The company reached unicorn status during the creator economy boom in 2021 and has stayed relevant by expanding its AI-powered offerings to meet market demands.
The launch of this marketplace is well-timed, as viral projects like OpenClaw have increased the demand for agentic AI chatbots capable of acting like personal assistants.
Hovhannes Avoyan, Picsart’s founder and CEO, stated that the agents shift the role of creators from operators to decision-makers. Creators set the direction, the agent makes a plan with real data, gets approval, and executes.
Initially, creators can work with four agents: Flair, Resize Pro, Remix, and Swap, with more specialized agents to be introduced weekly.
The Flair agent, integrated with Shopify, serves as an assistant for online store owners by analyzing market trends and suggesting improvements, like editing product photos. Future updates aim to enable Flair to conduct A/B testing and recommend improvements for underperforming products to boost sales.
The Resize Pro agent resizes images and videos for various platforms, using AI to extend frames so that resized images appear intentionally composed.
The Remix agent allows creators to describe a style, such as “vintage film,” and edit existing photo libraries to match themes, while changing photo backgrounds in bulk.
Integration with WhatsApp and Telegram enables users to chat with agents like Flair, acting asynchronously to analyze store data and engage with store owners. As similar tools are added to other platforms, the functionality could expand.
Avoyan explained that as agents are integrated with messaging apps, creators can interact from anywhere, enhancing accessibility.
Potential issues with AI agents involve hallucination and unintended actions, but Picsart allows setting “autonomy levels” for agents like Flair to require creator approval before actions. These agents are less susceptible to prompt injection attacks than public-facing ones, provided Picsart limits their interaction with the larger internet.
Picsart offers a free plan with limited AI credits weekly. Premium subscriptions starting at $10 per month for annual billing provide more capacity, which is likely needed to use AI agents.
