Polymarket Expands Partnership Portfolio with Major League Baseball Agreement

1 Min Read

Polymarket, a prediction platform, has been forming numerous partnerships, the latest being with Major League Baseball (MLB). MLB announced that Polymarket will become its official prediction market partner, granting exclusive access to official league data and permission to use MLB logos. Polymarket will also gain brand exposure during games and across MLB’s digital channels.

Additionally, MLB and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Michael Selig have signed a memorandum of understanding. This agreement indicates cooperation between the league and the agency overseeing prediction markets, sharing information pertinent to baseball and prediction markets.

MLB had previously expressed concerns about the potential impact of prediction markets on sports audiences. A letter sent last year to the CFTC highlighted the importance of establishing an integrity framework to regulate the prediction markets’ influence on the game. MLB positions the Polymarket partnership as a means to enforce integrity standards.

Polymarket, once banned in the U.S., has been thriving since the CFTC lifted past regulatory barriers in September, allowing U.S. operations. The company has since formed significant data partnerships with tech companies like Google and Palantir, and sports partnerships with Major League Soccer and Major League Hockey, along with media collaborations.
