Google’s efforts to address tax season scams have been highlighted. As many are filing taxes leading up to the April 15 deadline, cybercriminals are actively targeting individuals. Google has shared tools and tips to help users avoid scams, citing Alloy’s report on the 67 percent rise in fraud attempts, particularly tax-related refund update scams.
**Scam Detection on Pixel phones**
Pixel users benefit from Call Screen, reducing spam calls by 70%. Additionally, a new Scam Detection feature alerts users during suspicious conversations with notifications and vibrations.

**Google Safe Browsing**
Chrome’s Safe Browsing provides protection against phishing and harmful sites. Users can activate Enhanced protection through Privacy and Security settings.
**Gmail alerts**
Gmail flags suspected spam, scams, and malware with clear warning banners to protect users from harmful emails.
**Ad transparency**
For suspicious ads, users can check the “About this advertiser” section for advertiser details and verification, ensuring ads aren’t utilized for scams.
