Traditionally positioned between the U8 and U6, the U7 series now leads Hisense’s mini-LED lineup, competing with TCL QM7 and QM8, which feature advanced quantum dots. Waiting is advisable as prices tend to drop. The U75QG, originally $1,500, declined to $700.
The U7SG closely resembles last year’s U75QG in specifications. It boasts a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, up to 3,000 dimming zones, and a 165Hz native refresh rate. It supports top-tier HDR formats and has multiple HDMI 2.1 ports. The tested 65-inch version costs $1,500 but will likely be cheaper in summer.
In a sunlit living room setup, the U7SG excelled, achieving a peak brightness of 2,992 nits in Filmmaker mode—sufficient for vivid highlights. It surpasses the previous TCL QM7K and OLEDs from last year regarding brightness. The Hisense delivers excellent color, though slightly cooler than desired. Gaming benefits include a native 165Hz panel and 4K support, ensuring smooth gameplay without tearing. The Game Bar overlay simplifies gaming adjustments. Google TV performs well, with quick app loading and seamless navigation.
While similar to the U75QG in brightness and color accuracy, the U7SG has improved blooming control and reflection handling, ideal for bright rooms. Once prices decrease, the U7SG could become a top bright-room TV choice. Consider waiting as more affordable alternatives like the TCL QM8L or RGB LED competitors might outperform it. The U75QG also offers great value at half the price.
