2 Min Read

On Tuesday, Apple Music revealed its collaboration with Ticketmaster to enhance its Concert Discovery feature, aiming to help users find live music events based on their listening preferences.

As the first ticketing service to join forces with Apple Music, Ticketmaster enables users to discover local concerts and events aligned with their unique tastes. Each event listing now includes a direct Ticketmaster link for seamless ticket purchases.

This integration lets users explore ticket options through the app’s features, such as a homepage carousel displaying local concerts relevant to their listening history, a Concerts Tab for event browsing, and Artist Pages showing concert dates with tour badges. Users will also receive notifications when favored artists perform nearby.

Ticketmaster already manages event listings across Apple’s platforms, like Maps, Spotlight Search, Photos, and Shazam, expanding their partnership. When users identify songs with Shazam, they can also find and buy concert tickets. Artist searches on iOS display Ticketmaster events, and Apple Maps allows exploration of future events at Ticketmaster venues.

With iOS 16, Apple Photos connects fans with past concerts using images and videos, leading them to upcoming artist events.

Apple Music continues progressing in concert discovery, having launched a feature in 2023 to browse and listen to tours’ setlists and offering curated live music venue guides in major cities.

The Ticketmaster integration follows Spotify’s partnership with SeatGeek, offering ticket links on artist pages and tour schedules.

Ticketmaster has previously collaborated with rivals like SoundCloud and YouTube to boost ticket sales. Recently, the U.S. Justice Department reached a tentative settlement with Ticketmaster and Live Nation, following an antitrust suit, addressing concerns about the ticketing monopoly and dynamic pricing practices.
