Meta Leverages AI to Simplify Shopping on Instagram and Facebook

1 Min Read

Meta aims to utilize AI to inform and influence shoppers, boosting sales on its platforms, Facebook and Instagram. At the Shoptalk 2026 conference, Meta revealed plans to test a feature giving consumers more product details and user review summaries upon clicking an ad or visiting a website from its platforms. This mirrors Amazon’s 2023 initiative using AI to condense product reviews. Meta’s AI feature will provide an overview of user opinions, potentially including an introduction and bulleted benefits. It will also offer brand information, product suggestions, discounts, and allow users to add items to their cart. A streamlined checkout process, partnered with Stripe and PayPal, enables quick purchases. Future integrations with Ayden and Shopify are planned. Advertisers choose their checkout partners, keeping users within Meta apps for transactions. These checkout enhancements accompany updates to Meta’s product discovery tools, including expanded affiliate partnerships with Amazon, eBay, and others, as competition with TikTok intensifies. Instagram will trial affiliates like Amazon, allowing partners to select products and set creator commission rates. Instagram Reels creators in 22 countries will access business product catalogs to feature in videos.
