Enormous Leak Uncovers Galaxy Z Fold 8’s Broader Design with Slight Trade-Off

We’ve been discussing this for quite some time; now we have some evident renders to bring it all together.

What you should know:
– A source has emerged with a collection of purported renderings related to the “Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.”
– Although its design seems akin to the Fold 7, the Fold 8 Wide may eliminate one of its camera lenses.
– Additional speculation includes a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner screen, potentially with a 5,000mAh battery.

We have long encountered rumors regarding a “Wide” Galaxy Z Fold, and a source has revealed its alleged renders.

Earlier today (Mar 25), source OnLeaks, together with Android Headlines, presented images that allegedly showcase the “Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.” Design-wise, the Fold 8 Wide appears similar to what has been circulated regarding the standard Fold 8, essentially resembling the Fold 7. On a rather understated back panel, the Fold 8 Wide features a raised vertical camera setup; however, it omits one lens. The rumors did not touch on the camera’s expected specifications, but one can hope for a 200MP sensor.

The report delves into its displays, which, if we accept the renders at face value, appear quite “wide.” The source’s information indicates that the Fold 8 Wide will contain a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner screen. You can observe the differences between what has been speculated for the Fold 8 and the Fold 8 Wide in our gallery below. Moreover, this broader Fold could incorporate a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging and 25W wireless charging.

There seems to be skepticism about these figures (as one might expect with rumors), so don’t consider them as definitive just yet. Other supposed details involve Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage.

Wide Fold

Regardless of the accuracy of these renderings, they at least assist us in picturing what a “Wide” Fold might be. Additionally, the source hints that the phone’s dimensions could be 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.9mm when unfolded. A launch is anticipated later this summer, debuting alongside the Flip 8 and Fold 8 at Unpacked.

Just yesterday, information emerged regarding what the 2026 Galaxy Z Fold 8 could resemble. The design still mirrors that of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Consumers probably can expect another raised camera array, a relatively slim profile, although it may thicken slightly, as there are indications that Samsung is integrating the S Pen into the Fold 8. A battery enhancement is rumored for this version. A 5,000mAh cell could substitute the previous 4,400mAh battery from last year, featuring 45W charging instead of 25W.

We’ll have to see if the Fold 8 captures consumers’ interest as the Fold 7 did.

Android Central’s Take

This phone is appearing quite wide, isn’t it? I’m still uncertain about who the target audience for this phone is. I believe the broader aspect ratio could be beneficial for multitasking, particularly for working on projects on your device. For someone like me, I don’t see it really captivating me as much as the Fold 7 did. Admittedly, the Fold 7 had numerous enhancements over what Samsung previously offered. I suppose I’ll just need to wait until summer for my final evaluation. But, at the moment, it still feels underwhelming.
